10 Minutes of Peace in a Chaotic Life

10 Minutes of Peace in a Chaotic Life
Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.

You ever have one of those days where it feels like you’re sprinting from the second your feet hit the floor in the morning until you finally crash at night? Yeah, that’s pretty much every day for me. I work two jobs — somewhere between 16 to 18 hours a day — and life is just… nonstop. It’s a blur of clocks ticking, phones ringing, deadlines, customers, traffic, and just constant motion. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful to have work, and I try to stay positive. But man, sometimes the grind gets real.

There’s this one thing I do, though — something super simple — that honestly brings me so much joy it’s ridiculous. When I get home from my first job, before I go in to change or eat or even think about the next thing, I just sit. In my car. In complete silence.

No music. No podcast. No scrolling on my phone. Just me and the quiet.

It’s usually only about 10 minutes, maybe less if I’m running late. But in those minutes, I feel like I finally get to breathe. There’s something kind of magic about that silence — like the world pauses just long enough for me to catch up. No one asking for anything, no problems to solve, no voices in my ear. Just stillness. Peace.

It probably sounds small or maybe even weird, but that time in the car has become one of the best parts of my day. It resets me. Gives me a sliver of calm in the middle of the chaos. Sometimes I’ll close my eyes. Sometimes I just sit and stare out the windshield. But every time, I leave that car feeling a little more grounded, a little more like myself.

I think everyone has (or needs) that one thing that helps them hold on when life gets hectic. For me, it’s those 10 quiet minutes — just me and the silence. Nothing fancy. Just enough to remind me that even in the madness, there’s space for peace.

And honestly? That’s enough to keep me going.
