Dodging Casts Since High School

Dodging Casts Since High School
Have you ever broken a bone?

You know, for as clumsy as I can be sometimes, I’ve never actually broken a bone. Not once. And honestly, that kinda blows my mind. I mean, I used to skateboard back in high school like I was invincible. Launching off stairs, grinding handrails, face-planting more times than I care to admit—and yet, somehow, my bones stayed intact.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my fair share of other injuries. Torn muscles, twisted ankles, sprained wrists, bruises in places I didn’t even know could bruise. I even chipped a tooth once trying to ollie over a fire hydrant. That thing came outta nowhere, I swear. But never a single broken bone.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. There were plenty of times I should’ve ended up in a cast, signing my name over someone else’s sharpie doodles. But nope. I always walked (or limped) away. Maybe I’ve got Wolverine bones or something. Or maybe I just bounced better when I was a teenager.

These days, I don’t test fate as much. I’ll still mess around on a board every now and then, but I know if I eat it now, my body won’t bounce back the way it used to. Still, it’s wild to look back and realize I dodged that particular bullet. No cast, no crutches, no horror story about a snapped femur or a compound fracture (thank God).

Here’s to strong bones and dumb luck.
